Fred Armisen: Professional Sketch Ruiner

Seriously, does anyone really like this guy? The worst is when he tries to do impressions - his Barack Obama is so bad, people wouldn't have been able to tell who he was trying to do without Amy Poehler playing Hillary right next to him. He sounds more like Kermit than Obama.

Last night (I didn't see the show, but caught up with some of it via Hulu), he ruins a perfectly reasonable sketch, in which the entire cast (pretty much) gets a chance to show off their Christopher Walken impressions:

Seriously...maybe this guy is a funny stand-up or something. But he's truly terrible on this show.

I wasted my time watching that last night. SNL has become very disappointing to me. I don't laugh out loud like I used to. This sketch in particular seemed so pointless, I turned off the tv and went to bed.

His Barack Obama is really awful and vaguely offensive but I like some of his work, his Prince is pretty good.

the worst thing fred armisen has done in recent times is his anton chigurh...they did a really awful " i drink your milkshake" skit, but the guy playing plainview did a dead on impression, and then armisen shows up as chigurh and just....really made it clear how awful the skit was...i might have been able to convince myself otherwise..

Yeah, totally agree on that "drink your milkshake" thing. It was basically just saying the catchphrases from the movie, which is dumb, but at least Bill Hader's Plainview was great.

Then Armisen shows up and everything just goes right to hell. The guy's really terrible on the show.

Thank you for saying this. Seriously, Armisen is really terrible. From the very beginning, with his "I'm just keeeding!" character, to now with his incomprehensible Obama impression, the guy is just plain unfunny. I really don't know why/how he's somehow stuck around for years, when funnier people like Chris Parnell get fired. Totally nonsensical.
